Episode 4: Infusion and birth of the definitive colín

Once we have the laminated mold with the carbon fiber layers, one of the most delicate processes arrives: resin infusion.

Unlike other techniques, infusion allows us to obtain parts with an optimal stiffness-to-weight ratio, without internal imperfections and with a structural quality comparable to that of professional motorcycle equipment.

The key process is as follows:

1️⃣ Vacuum application → we connect the pump to remove all the air from the system. This means that when the resin enters, it does so uniformly and without leaving gaps.

2️⃣Resin flow → the resin advances throughout the laminate driven by the vacuum. This is a critical moment: its speed and direction must be controlled to ensure that all the fibers are impregnated.

3️⃣ Compaction and curing → with the constant vacuum pressure, all the layers are well compacted. Then, we let the resin harden for 24 hours and, finally, we obtain the rigid and resistant piece.

The result? A lightweight, robust and 100% adapted tailpipe to our motorcycle, ready to withstand the demands of a competition.

➡️ In the next episode, you will see how we bring this tailpipe with small imperfections to its maximum splendor.
