Episode 3: Lamination – when carbon fiber takes center stage

With the printed and polished molds, comes a step that is both technical and artisanal: lamination with carbon fiber.

This material is key in our prototype, as it offers a unique combination of lightness and rigidity. But working with it requires experience and patience.

The process follows some very specific steps:

1️⃣ Preparation of the mold → first of all, we clean it and apply mold release agents to prevent the piece from sticking to it.

2️⃣ Cutting the fabric → the carbon fiber sheets are cut following defined patterns, adapted to the shape of the tail.

3️⃣ Layer-by-layer placement → each sheet is deposited in the mold with precision, ensuring that there are no folds.

4️⃣ Orientation of the fibers → it is key to choose the angle of each layer so that the piece resists forces in different directions.

It is at this point that the colín really begins to take shape, since what is defined in this step with the fibers will be the final shape of the result. We are no longer just talking about printed plastic: we are giving life to a piece ready to compete.

➡️ The next episode brings the most decisive moment: the infusion.
